Hi Truman,

I'll check out the new Playmates thread. Wow, Captain Kangaroo. I'd forgotten about that show. I hope they don't try to modernize it too much and mess it up.

I just found a news article from Newsbytes that shows Bandai is getting its Tamagotchi licensing act together after all. Check out nb-pacifica.com
Bandai is making a version of the Tamagotchi which will live in a Personal Handy Phone (a pseudo cellular phone which is suppsoed to be popular with schoolgirls in Japan). When someone with one of these phones calls someone else with one of these phones, the Tamagotchis visit each other and play or eat together. There is also an official Tamagotchi theme song: "Feeling of Love" by Miyuki. Finally, starting June 27 in Japan, a new version of the Tamagotchi (Tamagotchi-3) will come out. I wonder when we'll get it here.

The best news for BNDCY holders is:

"For the current fiscal year, which began in April, Bandai forecast sales of Tamagotchi will reach 17 billion yen worldwide, from 3.5 billion yen last year.

Exchange rate: $1 = 116.00 yen"

3.5 billion yen = US$ 30 million
17 billion yen = US$ 145 million

I wonder how much licensing revenues will be?

Kirk
