For me, the circularity lies in accepting the holy book (and beliefs thereof) of a religion as proof that the religion is right, and then 'deducing' that whatever is propounded in said book is therefore also right... Incidentally, I don't know if you read the links Solon provided on biblical (especially NT) origins, but they're exceptionally convincing on Christianity emerging as a 'Logos'-style revelative mystery religion (the Christ as Logos), with the 'historical' Jesus myths (and much more) being tacked on later... Basically, I have no problem with people claiming divine revelation as the source of their faith - just so long as they don't try and apply it to me, nor claim that it does apply, nor claim that it and only it is the truth and history of reality.
