NW - Itanium might eventually enable some Compaq competitors but it will enable Compaq even more strongly, since they have advanced designs for 32 way and beyond based on McKinley. DELL will not be able to touch those systems. This is nonsense in today's world - a 4 way machine with no software and no market is not a threat to anyone. Look for McKinley to start getting traction in 2003.
