Ian,

What's your No. 1 pick in the optical sector?

I'm reluctant to get into fiber optic cable fabricators like GLW since there is supposedly already an overabundance of fiber in the ground. I'm also uncertain of the optical switch arena after seeing LU go from being the darling, to the dumpster. Also, CSCO's problems are also now legend; NT has had nothing but bad news lately, as has most of the equip sector.......so where's the clear leader there? (If someone could tell me who is closest building a pure optical switching device, I might put some money there).........

And to top things off, as you already know, JDSU was just downgraded, along with SCMR, NT, TLABS, and more. Not a pretty picture! But its always darkest before dawn, so I know that now is probably a good time to buy in this arena......the real question is, buy what? I tend to focus on a few selected stocks, so if you know of a few 800 lb gorillas in the FO arena, I'd appreciate your views.

Regards,

Knip

BTW, wanna hear my idea of what is going to finally put the FO arena over the top.....??????? Too bad, you're going to hear it anyway!

Its one of the of the oldest ideas in the book...........switched videophone. Almost a 50 year old idea, it would be pretty neat to call up your family and friends and see them, but now in 3D living color. Sure it'd take a lot of bandwidth, but supposedly that's the resource that's looking to be used. Think about it.
