I mentioned to you that Arafat was protected by Mossad
Well, there's an angle there that I'm either missing, or unwilling to accept, without further evidence to support it.
For the Israelis to "protect" Arafat, there would have to be a good reason to do so. The only one that currently makes sense to me is that they understand Arafat and they know how to push his buttons when they want to. Were he to die, Israel would immediately be blamed and he would become a martyr, something the Israelis would prefer not happen.
A second reason would be that they fear who would take his place.
A potential third reason is that there is a complex plot to funnel and direct the Palestinian energies into a self-destructive behavior that creates rational justification for never granting the Palestinians what they want, namely a Palestinian state.
That third option does seem logical, however unlikely because I don't Arafat being so stupid as to permit himself to be "played" in that manner without something being in it for him.
Arafat's gonna die someday soon and he only has so much time to find his permanent place in the history books as the guy who succeeded in creating a Palestinian state.
So when you say Arafat is being protected by the Mossad, I would have to assume that he realizes this fact, and that that there must an angle he's working to his benefit which does not negate Israel's perceived benefit from offering that protection.
