And, Bill Gates gets my bubble mouth award for the year...

GURVEY: This kind of kicks off a big season of product announcements from Microsoft,
doesn't it?

GATES: That's right. This year will be pretty mind blowing because we have got Visual
Studio for developers. We've got X Box (ph) for gamers. We've got Windows XP and a lot
more. It's just our development cycles have been such that 2001 is where a lot of hot stuff is
coming out.

GURVEY: Has it changed anything in the mood or the spirit of the people in Microsoft? I
know, you know, there have been some trials and tribulations over the years. With all the
new product coming to fruition this year, has that changed the mood on the campus?

GATES: Well, Microsoft has always been a very optimistic, energetic company. We
believed in the central role of software even when people got a little bit overboard on dot.com
startups. We stayed true to that. I think the fact that we're going to get these products out.
People understand that the long-term research we do is as important or more important than
just a startup, you know, that has got us really feeling good about our work. So I would say
there is an uptick there. But who we are, what we are all about, that's always been the
same.

(Bill, your company is fighting for its life, and everyone knows it. LOL)
