For the past several years, potato farmers in Wisconsin and out west have been dumping a good portion of their spuds, feeding them to cattle, etc. because prices are so low. The food glut equals and surpasses the gold/silver glut. One could imagine vastly higher food prices in the next year or two should this thing finally break and all the farmers go under.
