Article in the Globe & Mail yesterday on the potential M&A activity that would arise if the foreign ownership regulations are relaxed. Virtually every Canadian telco has a foreign minority owner, including Call Net of course, with Sprint owning 25%. The article quotes UBS Warburg analysts as saying stock prices will jump most at companies possessing one or more of three characteristics: those that need capital, those small enough to be easily grafted onto an international network, and those in need of succession plans.
