Quickly? 150+ years for the gospels is 6-7 generations, 3-4 entire lifespans for the poor of the time. And the additions need not have stopped then.
And, of course, the followers of a cult tend to be quite keen on starting and propagating legends about a follower; LOL, I wonder what's being said already about Hubbard? Has he started his next form yet?

Interesting point: if some of the apostles were crucified (I think I'd heard that) then it would seem quite natural to me to include/attribute that graphic event as the end of the life of the Jesus, as the mark of sacrifice - remember, he would have to die somehow and the sacrificial death and/or death at the hands of enemies was traditional in mystery religions. According to one of the links (the Gauvin?) in the confirmed Pauline texts there is no mention of this...
