Thanks Graystone There is only 1 RJ45 connection point, and it is on the 3com NIC that I installed,which lead me to think that it was part of the hardware that can be used for a direct cable connection. This would be fine for the time being but a some point I may want to add other things to the network, and that is why I went with the hub. The router seems (the more I read) to be the better and easier way of doing things. That is of course what I thought about the hub before I got started. I'll be playing with it again tonight to see if I can get things to work. KC
