. But my boys' actions told me that maybe all those lectures about America, our heritage, their granddad and standing up at parades for our Flag when nobody else does, sunk in after all.........

I'm sorry I found this post so late.

Never ever stop telling your boys the truth.

Never ever stop telling your boys the way it is.

Hammer it home everyday.

Be it how to behave in public (and private), why they shouldn't smoke and drink and "do" drugs. (hammer that one, hammer it.)

Why they should respect women and old people.

Why they should be in awe of toddlers.

Why they shouldn't steal or lie.

Why rainbows are to be observed.

That they should and WILL help with the chores.

Never ever stop telling your boys that you love them, ever.

Hug your boys or give them a pat on the back with an encouraging word to go along with it. They will always remember your touch and try to find adjectives.

Give your boys the very best formal education possible.

Respect your boys and never ever dis them.

Explain to them that it is ok to disagree.

Show your boys how to live a decent life by the examples you set.

Lend all the support you are capable of lending, always. Lace it with love, compassion and understanding.

Teach your boys how to tie knots.

Make them a homemade sling shot.

Skip stones on still lake tops with your boys.

Teach them how to box, fly a kite, change the oil, shoot a gun, defend themselves, pray.

Teach them how to bowl. (kids love to bowl).

Smooch your wife in front of your boys. Hold her hand too.

Clean the dishes once in awhile after you have cooked the meal.

MAKE them cook.

MAKE them do laundry.

MAKE them mow the lawn.

Remember they are just boys capable of tasks geared to their age and not capable of doing a mans job yet because they aren't men yet, it's your job to make them men.

Their entire future depend on you. You are their mirror.

Don't let your boys down.

From a wife of 25 years and mother of two boys age 23 and 22.
