My wife is a pharmacist and has gone to a couple of drug company dinners that were also open to pharmacists (usu. just doctors) The amount of money spent per plate is astonishing, perhaps $250 or more including the fee for some doctor pushing the drug for 15-30 minutes. On the other hand, she got to dine in the Canlis in Seattle, perhaps the finest restaurant in the city. But it did help explain to me why the drug Co's need such high gross margins, as those expenses must be phenomenal, and nobody playing the game wants to see those perks dry up.
