The Dundee white paper, like the more recent Nokia whitepaper, make a big deal out of AT&T's decision and assumes that now that Ma Bell has spoken, all the other TDMA operators will fall like bowling pins into the W-CDMA camp. It also assumes the number of CDMA users is static. For example, they say the 1 million CDMA users in China will be washed over by the great tide of GSM users. They never assume that the number of CDMA users in China could increase rapidly.

There are other things in it that in hind sight are almost laughable. An assumption that GSM will become the de facto choice in Brazil and influence the choices of the rest of Latin America., and so on.

Remind me to never make an investment decision based on a Dundee Investment Research paper.
