thanks for sharing the recent experience.

regarding, "Lessons learned.... Never delete dll's no matter if your're told they are unused"

with a program like nortons cleansweep, i delete them from time to time during housecleaning episodes. but the difference is that norton automatically creates a compressed back up file of all deleted items, and keeps that file for 30 days, at which time the user is prompted next time he or she goes to use cleansweep that an 'old' back up file exists and asks for instructions about whether or not to delete the back up. this is a very smart feature, imo.
