Stats from Recession Lows and Market Lows:

Recession returns (low in recession to 12 months out) since 1949 = 27.48% for DJIA (8 times), since 1951 = 28.77% for S&P500 (7 times) and since 1971 = 51.79% for Nasdaq (4 times).

Market Low returns (ML to 12 months out) during this bull market which began in 1982 (8 times) = 26.42% for DJIA, 28.73% for S&P500 and 49.15% for Nasdaq.
