Book tv on CSPAN2 the author of "Nickled and Dimed: On not getting by in America". The author gave up her life as a journalist and her phd and attempted to survive by getting menial jobs and trying to pay her bills and create a home. She spoke of her experience working at Walmart and how demeaning and unrewarding it was. Several people she worked with were homeless as they were unable to afford even a small apt. on their wages. When she went to a charitable organization for help in getting housing she was told to go to a shelter. The majority of people were forced to live in hotels that charged a weekly rate. Because these places have no kitchen facilities they were further pinched by having to eat comparatively more expensive fast food and convinience food items. It's interesting how difficultit is to rise up anymore and I think the slippery slope becomes more steep as we go. The "vehichles for the transfer of wealth" have become more efficient and more difficult to avoid. The tax cuts will help no one but the wealthy as they will be immediately spent on convinience or survival needs or "invested". I'm beginning to believe that this push to allow people to invest their SS in the market is just a means to create a method for the smart money to transfer securities to the masses as only the combined power of the people can support the weight of this giant securities "bag".
