I think Marx, Lenin and Mao were ideological, everyone since, from Stalin to Putin and Deng, it is about personal, not party gains. They are as full of shit as any typical U.S. politician.
The unfortunate part is that the Soviet and Chinese people have suffered for so long under such a group of "leaders". At least in the U.S. and other parts of the world, we get a shot at attempting to balance the table during elections occassionally.
For those who are here to read about NTAP: "PLA" stands for "People's Liberation Army", essentially now a holding company for many businesses in China along with the Chinese army. They are a lot like "the Mob", running the businesses and communism provides the shield of any government intrusion. Deng is like Tony Soprano, only with a bigger "crew" but no pesky meddling FBI to bother him.
They fear democracy, not because of individual freedom but because of loss of essentially a business monopoly.
Communism has always been democracy turned upside down: it's freedom for those in power and collective suffering for the majority. |
