Accounting principles prevent any corporation from writing off assets which that company believes to have intrinsic value. Also shareholders don't react kindly to their employees throwing away their assets. How could you possibly still believe that ALA would be a white knight after writing off its prior investment in TSX?

And re the Barron's extract: This wasn't hype; this wasn't somebody's biased opinion. It was a statement of 2 facts: The current market cap for TSX which is Price per share multiplied by number of shares; and, value at which TSX bonds are trading. The logic for discarding this information is not apparent.

Your posts are leading me to conclude that you have replaced facts and logic with faith and hope. If so, don't expect much in the way of investment returns.

FWIW,
Ian.
