Herb, OK, but I checked Fry's ad in the San Jose Mercury News today and there is just one Athlon box and it is a BYO (build your own) system, $319 minus $100 for a rebate. 7 Intel based ads. The stores that ad is good for are in Sunnyvale, Campbell, Palo Alto, Fremont and San Jose. That is Silicon Valley plus part of the East Bay and part of the "Peninsula". Pretty much it around here. It looks to me like the Athlon mobile is largely MIA. Tualatin next month ought to finish it off for good.
It feels good for a change seeing all the incompatibility, instability and crash reports about AMD products, and, about Intel products: quiet. Then, when you consider, what, 75 - 80% of what's being sold is Intel, all the more solid for Intel WRT reliability and compatibility issues.
