My conversation with AMTX:

I spoke with Amati (Tac) this afternoon regarding questions I had
related to the press releases of last week, things I have read on MF,
etc...

1. I asked him if they license the line code for $250K which I have heard.
He explained that it was more complicated than that. Specifically, he
said they have two deals they can make with customer(s). He did NOT
give ANY numbers but basically, a customer can pay AMTX a lot now and
a little later, or a little now and a lot later. (THOSE ARE MY WORDS)
He did NOT give dollar figures.

2. I asked him about Alacatel's recent ADSL announcements. I have heard
(again through sources on MF) that Alcatel has been working for months
with Amati. Tac would only tell me that Alcatel's present version
of ADSL is not standards compliant. They are working together to make
it comply.

3. I asked about plans for getting the Amati web site up to speed. He said
that they are (or will be) outsourcing its administration and are very
aware of its short comings. It was my impression that they did not expect
the site to be as valuable a tool as it is becoming.

I BELIEVE Tac and the boys have everything under control. When
we were discussing the web site he explained that they have 80 or 90 employees
and many are EEs working on modems. He said it is kind of hard to justify
pulling them off modem type work to update/fix the web site. He also mentioned
that he is the only person in the marketing department (why didn't I ask for
a job!):-(

I formed the following impressions from my conversation:

1. They are accutely aware of the attention they are getting and
may even be a bit overwhelmed by it. (I understand their Press
conference last week was PACKED)
2. They are trying to remain conservative with information so
as not to mislead/get ahead of themselves.
3 They know/follow the their stock price and possibly the ramblings
here and on MF.
4. They are working VERY hard.

As for me, I am still confident. Techie, why don't you call him sometime?
With your background I think you would ask better questions.

Cheers,
Daniel
