Much of the very large short position is boxed. (A lot of that as a result of the move to 36). Any time news is released there are a lot of long shares which can be sold into the rallies. To date GUMM hasn't delivered any kind of knock out punch to discourage that response. However, the Wrigley sale seems to have dislodged a significant number of shorts.

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said the shorts were "worried". At this price, there simply isn't a lot of risk reward. In this market there are plenty of better short opportunities. Moreover, boxed positions can be easily closed without placing upward pressure on the stock.

I'd love to banter but this stock is pretty low on my radar screen and I don't expect to give it much attention until certain things happen. What the price does in the short term is of little interest to me. As we both know the outcome will depend on management's execution and not on anything we might say.
