RENTON, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001--Webvan Group, Inc.
(Nasdaq:WBVN) announced today that it will offer same-day delivery for
its most frequent customers in the Greater Seattle Area. Effective
June 5, same-day delivery will be available to customers who earn
"platinum" or "gold" status in the "Webvan Rewards" loyalty program.

Qualified customers in the Seattle, SeaTac and Bellevue areas will be
able to place an order up until 12:00 Noon, Monday through Thursday,
and receive their orders between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. that evening.
"Same day delivery service underscores Webvan's commitment to
maintain a steadfast focus on the customer," said Greg Kinney, vice
president and general manager for Webvan-Pacific Northwest. "A number
of our customers requested this service and we determined a
cost-effective way to bring this convenience to our customers, which
also enhances our overall value proposition in the Seattle market."

Webvan-Seattle's gold and platinum customers are the first group
of customers invited to test same day delivery. Webvan will test the
same day service concept in Seattle and will evaluate expanding the
offering to other markets.
"Webvan Rewards" is Webvan's way of thanking its most loyal
customers with additional benefits on top of the great service
customers have come to expect from Webvan. All Webvan customers are
automatically enrolled in the loyalty program and can qualify for
either gold or platinum status by earning points every time they shop
with Webvan. Once qualified, customers will receive increased savings,
special gifts and priority service. Platinum status is achieved after
accumulating 2,750 points during a program period, and gold status
requires an accumulation of 1,500 points. Customers receive one point
for every dollar they spend with Webvan and 100 bonus points for each
delivery over $100.

Webvan recently announced the company accomplished its technology
platform integration goals and is now operating in all of its markets
under a unified brand and Web store. Webvan's Seattle and Portland
markets were the last two of the five former HomeGrocer markets to
undergo the technology platform transition, which offers customers in
all markets added features and benefits and allows Webvan to run a
more efficient operation.
