do you remember a company called MegaHertz or one called Palm Computing?

Yes I do, Scrapps. But notice whose name is on the PalmPilot....It's US Robotics, not Palm Computing. That's important, because if you told someone who had bought a PalmPilot (without knowing the history behind it) that it was made by a company called Palm Computing, they probably would look at you a little funny. They would probably point to the "U.S. Robotics" name on it.

MegaHertz, on the other hand, has been able to be the dominant name on the cards they manufacture.

I think this one (modems) could go either way, but IMO the smarter business way is 3Com be the dominant name. Blue and white boxes. That's the ticket to capitalize on the merger. Anyway, Eric B will have his way, and I think he has indicated 3Com will be the name to be used.

trust me!!

PS - Okay, I see your source is someone at 3Com. Watch! They'll probably do it exactly how I suggested: Blue/white box, 3Com name dominant, with a salute to U.S. Robotics as the technology inside. Watch! -GG-
