[B] TURKEY CRISIS: Gold trading increased 44.5% on week to Friday

Istanbul, June 4 (BridgeNews) - Trading on the Istanbul Gold Exchange
increased in volume by 44.5% to 1,199 kilograms in the week to Friday compared
with the previous week, the exchange reported on its website Monday. It said
the increase in trading was fueled by a liquidation of long positions, which
led to a decline in prices. The weighted average of gold traded on the exchange
in the week to Friday decreased in U.S. dollar terms by $7.86 per ounce over
the previous week to $274.2 per ounce.

However, the depreciation of the lira against the dollar in the week to
Friday restrained the trading volume, the exchange said. It said 63.3% of the
gold trading volume in the week to Friday was transacted in dollars.
