AMD decided that no one really wants large-cache CPUs, which is why they cancelled Mustang.

Meanwhile, I see 900 MHz Pentium III Xeons w/ 2MB cache going for $3.5K and 800 MHz Itaniums w/ 4MB cache going for $4.5K. Obviously there are customers willing to pay those prices to get those large-cache CPUs, the same ones that AMD claims no one really wants.
