Paying employees more isn't going to make them better employees, nor more trustworthy, nor more respectful. That's backwards. Better employees get paid more. If you pay more, you get a better pool to draw from.

FWIW, every embezzler I've interacted with was considered by her employer to be a very good employee, very respectful, and seemingly very trustworthy.
