Any alkaline batteries last about 1/4 as long as that of a good 1500mAH NiMH rechargeable.

This has not been my experience. Maybe I have lousy NiMh rechargeable batteries but I have a TV remote control that has 4 AAA NiMh batteries installed in it. These batteries need to be recharged once a month. I have another TV remote control with 2 AAA alkaline batteries. These batteries need to be replaced about once a year. Perhaps other people have had better experience with NiMh batteries but I have been very disappointed with them

What are good brands of NiMh batteries? .
