The miserable ...

...aspects of growing up on the farm flashed across the inside of his forehaid like the flickering 8mm skin flicks his uncle bobby used to show on the wall of the milking stall on saturday nights. he recalled the teasing he would get from his uncle and his older cousins. the obscene remarks; the chiding that he wasn't a man until he'd had a night with a ewe or a cow.

one saturday night, after emptying a full jug of corn liquor, they'd even gone so far as to de-pants the lanky, teenaged bruster and lower him, kicking and screaming, into a stall with a young heifer. in jest, they tossed him a large, economy size jar of petroleum jelly and broke into uncontrolled laughing fits.

"the sick, drunk, stinking pukes," he thought, "they'll pay for this someday."
