Docpaul, there isn't much public info revealed about the 845 and 870 chipsets. It stands to reason that the 845 chipset is similar to the 850 chipset. The only major difference between the two chipsets is the memory interface. Both probably use the same firmware hub, which would also be the same firmware hub as the 820, 815, and 840. Can't say anything about the 870, however.

By the way, two questions for you:

1) Did you really mean the firmware hub, or do you actually mean the ICH/ICH2 south bridge?

2) What kind of "forward research" are you doing on Intel's chipsets?
