The regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has escalated threats of a Middle East war. Senior aides of Mubarak have warned Israel of the prospect of war should the Jewish State attack the Palestinian Authority. The aides asserted that the Egyptian military is ready for any prospect, including a war with Israel.

Do you think this is just for public consumption only or are they serious? They would have to be nuts. In 1967 they had a Soviet sugardaddy to replace their losses; now they are dependent on US aid. If they think the US government would support an attack on Israel they've got another think coming.

I don't think they can possibly be serious -- this is for the street's benefit. Arab governments will always give the Palestinians the last ounce of rhetoric and the last acre of Israeli-held land.
