Hi portage,

While I'm in agreement with your sentiments: If FERC does not assert their proper authority soon to halt the gouging and exercise of bald market power, and refund the manipulated overcharges, 45 million west coasters are going to blow this deregulation experiment out of the water.
I will have to say that the general public will never be given much of a role here. In the state of Oregon, where I live, the utilities were successful at supressing a legislative initiative to postpone the proposed de-regulation scheduled to begin on Oct. 1. We, the public, had no input into this behind the scenes committee work in the legislature. I think the best that we can do is to try, as many on this thread do, to expose the collusion between rapacious energy vendors and their bribed politician pals. It is only when their games are brought out into the light of day that the truly disgusting nature of how "they" run energy policy in this region comes to light.

FWIW, Ray
