Check Point Software Breaks New Ground With Subscriber VPN/Security Solutions for Service Providers

Partners with Leading Platform Vendors to Deliver Multi-Gigabit, Multi-Customer Solutions with Multiple Security Systems in a Single Hardware Platform

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001-- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CHKP - news), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced new Subscriber VPN/security solutions, making Check Point the only company in the industry to provide managed security solutions to telcos and ISPs for all deployment scenarios.

The new solution empowers multiple Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1® gateways to run at multi-gigabit speeds within a single hardware platform for significantly lower operating costs. Initially, Check Point is partnering with three best-of-breed platform vendors to deliver ``Secured by Check Point'' solutions that integrate its security for high performance subscriber deployments: CoSine Communications (Nasdaq:COSN - news), Crossbeam Systems and Cubix Corporation (please see corresponding press releases from some of these companies)

Subscriber VPN/security provides multiple security deployments for many ``subscribers'' -- companies receiving Internet security as a managed service. ``Secured by Check Point'' Subscriber VPN/security systems will provide up to hundreds of VPN-1/FireWall-1 gateways on a single hardware platform.

The service provider manages and monitors this security deployment from its Network Operation Center (NOC) using Check Point's powerful Provider-1® management architecture. Service providers can further standardize on Check Point's SVN architecture and deliver both customer premise equipment-based (CPE) and subscriber (POP or data center-based) VPN/security managed services. The Subscriber VPN/security delivery model enables service providers to offer a range of cost-effective managed security solutions to their customers.

``Service Providers are seeking ways to cost-effectively deploy subscriber-based managed security services,'' said Joel Conover, Senior Analyst at Current Analysis. ``By leveraging Check Point's industry-leading SVN architecture, service providers will be able to reach profitability and better service their customers.''

The following companies will deliver Check Point Subscriber VPN/security via certified ``Secured by Check Point'' platforms:

CoSine -- as an established industry leader, CoSine will deliver the gigabit-speed, routing, switching, multi-customer IPSX(TM) Service Processing Switch integrating Check Point Subscriber VPN/security from within the edge of the service provider's network.
Crossbeam -- as an innovative start-up, Crossbeam will deliver Check Point Subscriber VPN/security on a new class of open, highly scalable equipment at optical speeds.
Cubix -- as a vertically integrated manufacturer, Cubix will integrate Check Point's Subscriber VPN/security into their very high-speed, fault-tolerant solution hosting multiple customers on a single platform.
``Check Point's SVN architecture today provides the foundation for managed VPN/security services from leading service providers around the globe,'' said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management for Check Point Software Technologies. ``Our new subscriber VPN/security offerings extend the SVN architecture to uniquely enable service providers to deliver managed security services via both CPE-based and subscriber VPN/security deployments within an advanced, comprehensive architecture and a single management framework.''
