i2 Technologies Selects Starbase To Manage Company-Wide Development Requirements

Collaborative Development Approach Uses CaliberRM and CaliberRBT

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001--Starbase Corp. (Nasdaq:SBAS - news), the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for both the development and management of content and code for e-business applications, today announced that i2 Technologies Inc., the leading provider of dynamic value chain and marketplace solutions, signed an agreement to implement CaliberRM and CaliberRBT as the company-wide standard for the management of requirements associated with all of the company's business units.

According to David Nowicki, i2 vice president technology and process strategy, ``Both CaliberRM and CaliberRBT have strong integrations with other best-of-class tools and their ability to trace requirements to other project artifacts such as test cases, use cases, design and code made them the ideal solution for our system.

``These products employ a collaborative approach to development that enables us to leverage our existing technology investments, optimize further our development process, ensure quality and exceed customer expectations.''

Currently, i2 uses CaliberRM to define, manage and track requirements. i2 uses CaliberRBT training for requirements-based testing to refine and validate requirements early in the development cycle. Together, CaliberRM and CaliberRBT help i2 control project costs, project scope creep and schedule overruns.

``With the current fluctuations in the high-tech market, many corporations are placing the final technology purchase decision for company-wide implementations into the hands of the CFO,'' stated Louis Columbus, analyst at AMR Research. ``Financial viability and position in the marketplace are considered critical factors in technology adoption.''

``Prior to adopting technology standards, larger organizations perform a careful examination of prospective vendors to ensure continued product support. We were thrilled to be selected by i2 Technologies and are working closely with them to ensure a smooth implementation of the selected Starbase technology,'' stated James H. Smith, executive vice president, Starbase Customer Group.

``Each of the collaborative components within Starbase's suite of solutions and integrations are designed specifically to fit smoothly into whatever environment or infrastructure our customers have in place,'' Smith continued.

``This open architecture dramatically speeds the implementation process as well as the point when customers can realize a return on their investment. We are looking forward to working with i2 as they complete the implementation of CaliberRM and CaliberRBT across all of their departments.''
