Thanks for the info, that explains the connection between the modem and the PCI Serial Controller. I did what you suggested, but evidently there is no driver for the PCI Serial Controller. I have gone back and removed and reinstalled the modem using the original modem CD. It's a 3-Com 56K modem that is a year old. Is it likely that the modem has gone bad?
