I do not see that there is cause for concern. No one has asked me, in 3-D, about my religious opinions or affiliations for years, not even casually, nor my wife's either. We do not attend a church or synagogue. For all practical purposes, we may as well be secular, and it has made no difference at all.
I said nothing to indicate that the opinions of the secular are odious. I have indicated a degree of incredulity that there is anything to make a civil rights movement out of. I grew up as a Jew, and it was not hard to get used to the idea that the surrounding culture was predominantly Christian, and to live with it. If there are instances like debarring the secular from appropriate oaths, I agree they should be fixed. In general, I think that neither the majority nor the minority should be discommoded more than necessary, and that each case bears individual scrutiny.
If you want to be taken seriously, address the points and queries raised, and persuade me that the secular are oppressed. Otherwise, there are more pressing matters to attend to....... |
