Amber Networks and Avici Systems Collaborate On Solutions for Converged IP/MPLS Networks; Companies Will Demonstrate Converged Services at SUPERCOMM 2001 ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001--Amber Networks Booth #1058--Amber Networks, a leader in carrier-grade IP infrastructure products, and Avici Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: AVCI), a leading provider of scalable core routing solutions for intelligent IP-over-optical networks, today announced the two are demonstrating the convergence of IP and non-IP services to ubiquitous IP/MPLS networks. This collaboration delivers carriers significant savings in total cost of operations and establishes a new benchmark in IP network availability while eliminating scalability limitations and the need to re-engineer the network every 18 months.
Avici and Amber Networks are demonstrating converged services at SUPERCOMM 2001 on June 5-7, 2001, at Amber Networks' booth #1058 in Hall B of the Georgia World Congress Center. In addition, the companies have completed successful interoperability testing between the Amber Networks ASR2000(TM) high-availability edge routers and the Avici TSR(R) scalable core routers. These interoperability efforts are designed to help service providers create new, differentiated IP services and converge popular non-IP network offerings, including Frame Relay and Private Line, into IP/MPLS infrastructures without interruption.
"Service providers are asking for solutions that deliver high differentiation at lower cost," said Alex Dobrushin, vice president of marketing for Amber Networks. "Working with Avici's core routers, we are able to demonstrate how carriers can accomplish high differentiation with a broad array of QoS-enabled services. They can also consolidate overlay networks using the multiservice capabilities of Amber Network's edge routers to further lower costs."
Pete Chadwick, vice president of marketing at Avici said, "Avici provides a carrier-grade IP network platform that gives service providers the ability to offer unprecedented service level agreements (SLAs) for mission-critical services such as video and voice. The combination of Avici and Amber enables traditional offerings like Frame Relay to converge onto the IP/MPLS networks."
About Amber Networks
Amber Networks is delivering the world's first continuous routing platforms, purpose-built to deliver 99.999% (five nines) service availability in IP/MPLS networks. Amber Networks' high availability ASR2000(TM) edge router family enhances service provider differentiation and enables the convergence of mission-critical IP and non-IP services (TDM, Frame Relay, and ATM) in order to significantly boost revenues and dramatically reduce the total cost of IP/MPLS networks. Amber Networks' IP infrastructure solutions are enhanced by edgeSpan(TM), the company's comprehensive element and service management suite designed to rapidly accelerate service velocity.
