I never said I don't think the economy is in trouble. Have no idea where people get that impression. Apparently because I am not a gold bug and don't believe in hard money? Or because I don't think we're going to have 20% unemployment by 12/02? There's a lot of area between "no trouble" and "the Great Depression redux."

As for raising wages - average compensation for workers in the US is over $20 an hour - more than $15/hr. for wages, more than $5/hr. for benefits.

Seems to me like the thing you haven't figured out is what it takes for an adult worker to make the jump from minimum wage to average wage. Looks to me like employers are willing to pay a lot more than minimum wage to the majority of the work force. I suspect your time would be better spent helping people make that transition.
