cb, no. but i don't see how that adds to the discussion. do i need to jump out of an airplane in order to know that i will fall towaard earth? ;-)

it boils down to values. i enjoy treating people well. others view people as blood suckers looking for a turnip.

what one feels inside will manifest itself outwardly and people pick up on the vibes (even if they tell everyone but the offending person!). haven't you ever enjoyed working for somebody? haven't you ever hated working for somebody?

was your work equally as efficient, as good? have you never done extra for somebody you cared about on a personal level?

my success isn't due to throwing money at people. i didn't make the macro payroll decisions. i argued that shifts that led the company in quality, productivity, unit cost, etc. ought to be rewarded more than others, but the argument fell on deaf ears. i think i did a decent job of rewarding the excellent workers, though.

a lot boils down to common decency. include employees in the business and teach them how business works and how they fit in the big picture... or treat them like a commodity to be used up and thrown out.

i'm confident i can outmanage just about everyone. not b/c i'm so good. rather, so many "leaders" are "socially retarded" and don't know how to relate to the working class - the engine tht keeps the machine running.

i'm not complaining b/c i have a powerful competitive advantage. however, i feel for the many, many great workers that are pummeled into mediocrity by inept "leaders."
