. . .TOTALLY OFF-TOPIC: . . . .Very well said, Moufassa! And with no Fed bailout of their mistake in calculations, Californians will have no choice but solve it on their own.

On another note. . . I am hearing that the illegal immigrant problem has skyrocketed since I moved out of California about 5 years or so ago. And since this has been allowed to continue mostly unabated for many decades, the children of illegals are now full-fledged U.S. citizens. . . and now at voting age.

I read where the Caucasian, Asian and African-American races are now officially the minority to the Hispanic population in Southern California. And just like I witnessed happen in South Florida in the early 80's, the elected officials soon begin representing the majority and the laws start changing accordingly. . . to benefit the majority.

Already, I am hearing that Spanish has been voted the PRIMARY language in parts of So. Cal. . . meaning it is required to be taught to new school children. . .with English as an elected SECONDARY language. Again, this was the case in the mid-80's in South Florida. I am hearing now that some Hispanics in Southern California are refusing to learn or speak English. . . making communication with non-hispanics extremely difficult in certain parts [especially evident within the service industry there].

This very day, the city of Los Angeles is about to get its first Hispanic mayor since 1872.

What I am getting at is that Southern California is going through a major fundamental change. In South Florida, such change was not without its share of rioting. . . . . both a social and political upheaval. I would expect similar action in Southern California. The popular bumper sticker/T-shirt in the 80's in S. Fla. was, "Will the last American to leave Miami, please bring the flag". . . . but unlike S. Florida, the citizens of California are not as willing to north, IMO.

Mexican laborers, who have changed the face of construction, farming and other large industries throughout the state over the past few decades, are no longer satisfied being the workers, from what I am hearing. Mexican Laborers now want to become the bosses, too. . . .and are approaching customers directly to "cut out the middleman" American contractors.

A frank statement I heard last week from a Southern California contractor was that, "The Mexican Majority wants Americans out of California". . . "they want to take over control" . . . ."they learned that America took California away from them and now they want it back". . . . and "they no longer follow job instructions, but do things their own way" . . . "making it extremely difficult to get anything done on construction jobs."

Mexican Gangs began spreading throughout the high schools and middle schools. And the crime rate in my quiet neighborhood shot up like a rocket, supposedly due to the extreme growth in illegal immigrants.

Schools here have their own problems. But what is here is nothing compared to the fear I saw in the eyes of a 14 year old boy [now my step-son]. . . . when a Southern California police officer told him that there was "nothing he could do" about the death threats shouted by a Mexican gang who had chased him about a mile on foot. . . .shouting "we're going to kill you" the whole way . . . . the officer said that only death threats against the President of the U.S. are technically illegal, so there was nothing he could do. . . .the law failed him. THAT was the day I decided to make a new plan.

Like I said earlier this year, with the energy crises looming. . . prices skyrocketing and all the obvious congestion and crime ills of Southern California. . .in my opinion, there will be a big increase in the number of families exiting the state this year. I sincerely wish all Californians the very best as they struggle to maintain or improve their quality of living.

Disclaimer: I love California. . . some of my best friends and family members live there. . . especially the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area. . . where I would own a vacation home but am not interested in family living. . . I also love regions north and east of Sacramento . . . but then having travelled the U.S. extensively, I love SO many places here. . .and wish I could live many places at the same time . . the city, the country, the beaches, the mountains, the culture, the tradition. . . what a great country this is!! . . . but when deciding where to live, the economic and social issues are certainly a factor.

California prides itself on being a different place. . . apart from all other states. That it is.
