If VZ, uses WCDMA in the future, then it actually means more money to Q because for the sake of compatibility they will need CDMA2000/WCDMA dual mode chipsets and handsets, which will be more expensive than single mode. So what does that mean?

1) Higher royalty.

2) More natural choice of Q's(spinco) WCDMA/CDMA2000 chips.

So I would say go for it. If they can that is.
