Media Advisory - World Heart Corporation to hold Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders
June 11, 2001

OTTAWA, Jun 5, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- (NASDAQ: WHRT, TSE: WHT) - World Heart Corporation
(WorldHeart) will hold its annual and special meeting of shareholders on Monday, June 11, 2001 at 4:00 p.m.
(E.S.T.).

The meeting will take place: Ottawa Westin Hotel
Confederation III Ballroom
11 Colonel By Drive
Ottawa, Ontario

The proceedings will also be broadcast live via audio web cast on WorldHeart's web site, www.worldheart.com
(Financial Highlights section). A tape of the broadcast will available for review at the same location for 60 days.

WorldHeart executives will review the current status of, and future plans for, the Corporation and its Novacor(R)
LVAS and HeartSaverVAD(TM) devices. A question and answer session will follow the formal portion of the
meeting.

WorldHeart is proud to have R.J. Brack, a 20 year-old, former Novacor(R) LVAS recipient, as one of their guest
speakers during this meeting. In 2000, R.J. was supported for three months on Novacor(R) LVAS before receiving a
life- saving heart transplant. He is now scheduled to represent Canada in swimming and lawn bowling at the
upcoming World Transplant Games in Kobe, Japan in August. (Pre-annual meeting media interviews on the 11th
with R.J. can also be arranged.)
