Hi Mike & Miljenko, Way OT

Could there be two people named Michael Young? Sure - Will the real Mike Young please stand up? ;-)

A story with a point:

Today I attended the 7th Conference on Talmud and Contemporary Law. I always find these conferences interesting.

One section dealt with Reporting Sexual Abuse. This story was told:

In a religious day school a Rabbi observed another Rabbi kiss a female student in the lunch room. The first Rabbi went to the Principal and reported the incident. The second Rabbi was called to the Principals office and confronted with the accusation in the presence of the Rabbi witness. On hearing the accusation the Rabbi denied that he had kissed any student in the lunchroom.

The Principal rather than questioning the students and thus bringing to their attention the incident fired the accused, chosing to believe the positive report rather than the denial.

Only later did it turn out [other students had observed it] that the accused Rabbi had indeed kissed a student - his daughter - on the top of her head. For the accused Rabbi the practice was so common-place that he thought nothing of it and did not even remember the act.

Unfortunately, the truth came out too late to save great anguish to many in the community. He never did get his job back.

We need to be careful what conclusions that we draw.

Both Miljenko Zuanic and Michael Young would counsel [I hope I am not being too presumptuos] great care (DD) in making investing decisions. Should we not exercise care toward each other?

Two points seem important to me:

- We should take great care in how we address each other.

- We should "cut each other some slack" - by that I mean we should be slow to take offense.

I hope this is not too preachy - but I was invited into this tat-a-tat.

Mike Young is an attorney friend of mine - I value his opinion even when I greatly disagree (Cramer - a case in point).
