Slavery in French colonies was nothing new - it was what made the middle class in France rich enough to inspire the French Revolution. The first slave uprising in Louisiana was on one of my family's plantations, or so I am told. The slaves were crucified along the banks of the Mississippi River as a warning to those who would follow in their footsteps. But I am not afraid of history. What my family did was morally wrong, the most morally wrong thing it is possible to do. All great crimes, murder, rape, robbery, are permitted to the slave owner - that is why it is the worst crime of all.

Don't tell me the Germans didn't have slaves?

Why did we hire Werner von Braun? As the song goes,

In German, oder English,
I know how to count down,
And I'm learning Chinese,
Said Werner von Braun.
