I believe the VIX pertains to options and the VXN is a contrarian indicator for the Nasdaq 100. Either way they both are showing an oversold situation. I'm a short term trader unlike yourself, so these are indicators I consider. I have a much more elaborate set of charts using Windows on Wall Street software which I follow.
