HYWY accelerates Java productivity with release of POPE.J Basic(TM) and POPE.J Basic Plus(TM) Productivity Environment for Java available for download free of charge for limited time
May 23, 2001 Toronto, Ontario
HYWY Corp. (CDNX: YHW), a developer of software solutions that accelerate Java(TM) development productivity, today released the inaugural versions of its Productivity Environment for Java, POPE.J Basic(TM) and POPE.J Basic Plus(TM). The company also announced it will preview its POPE.J Pro(TM) Edition at JavaOne in San Francisco June 4 - 8, 2001.
POPE.J Basic, the freeware version of the product, is now available for download at hywy.com. POPE.J Basic Plus, priced at US$99, will also be offered for download free of charge until July 31 as a special promotion marking the launch of the company's flagship product, a productivity solution to reduce the complexity of Java software development.
"POPE.J(TM) has tremendous potential to increase the productivity of our development teams," says David Renouf, chief internet officer at Watco Web Waves Inc. (www.watco.ca), a systems integrator and one of the companies that tested POPE.J extensively in beta versions. "It's powerful enough to support our advanced Java developers, allowing them to focus less on Java coding and more on solving business problems. And POPE.J's intuitive modeling and automatic code and persistence layer generation capabilities dramatically shortens the learning curve for Visual Basic and C++ developers, helping them make the jump to Java more quickly."
HYWY's Productivity Environment for Java is designed to revolutionize the way businesses develop, test, deploy, and manage enterprise Java applications throughout their entire life cycle. POPE.J's object-oriented modeling tools allow business decision-makers and application developers to map out applications and automatically generate the required Java code. HYWY's product supports persistent business objects running in a high-performance object cache designed to integrate with leading relational databases and application servers.
POPE.J Basic, the freeware version of the Productivity Environment for Java, supports object modeling, generation and regeneration of Java applets and servlets, a high-performance object cache, and object persistence for text files. POPE.J Basic Plus adds support for MySQL, a freeware relational database, and Apache Tomcat, a freeware servlet engine. POPE.J Pro features support for relational databases such as Oracle and IBM DB2 and the iPlanet Enterprise Application Server. HYWY will preview POPE.J Pro at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco (http://java.sun.com/javaone) June 4 - 8, 2001 (booth #232).
"The release of POPE.J Basic and Basic Plus, coupled with our preview of POPE.J Pro at JavaOne, marks the beginning of HYWY's rapid emergence as a competitive player in the Java solutions market," says David Morrison, HYWY's president. "No other product was built in Java from the ground up to encompass modeling, rapid application development, and object persistence for Java applications. And POPE.J is the only solution that accelerates Java productivity from conceptualization of a business application through to its deployment and beyond, all within a single productivity environment."
The first release of POPE.J Pro is slated for the third quarter of 2001. POPE.J Enterprise(TM), featuring full support for the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), will be released the first quarter of 2002. Pricing for POPE.J Pro and POPE.J Enterprise will be announced upon product availability.
