The execs did a good job of defending themselves on Frontline last night against Lowell Bergman - the reporter portrayed by Pacino in "The Insider". The show has lost a lot of integrity since they partnered with the New York TImes, but there was still a lot of neutral info. Maybe you can still catch it in your area.

All this money that supposedly has left California to Texas is actually debt. And Davis is cutting deals to pay off this debt at a rate less than dollar for dollar, in exchange the energy companies are going to support his next election. A lot more to it than that, some anti-Republican, mostly anti-stoopid government peons though. I think the anti-Republican part was gratuitous and not really related to the story.

Anyway, looks like Scumbria will be vindicated on this issue. Davis wanted some big energy money, and he is going to get it. He doesn't care about the people. A good read is the sacbee article by Wilson.
