Arafat should be made defunct immediately and the Palestinian people re-located.

Wow.. I'm not even so hawkish to advocate relocating millions of people... :0)

But this does highlight a major issue. The Israelis don't want to annex the West Bank Palestinian population into their country because it would drastically distort the voting demographics.

But neither do the Israelis want a potentially hostile Palestinian state developing on the West Bank either, thus the collection of settlements they have built, which are essentially security strongpoints.

If this were TRULY just about the Palestinians having their own state, then it would be relatively easy to solve. All they would have to do is model themselves after Costa Rica, which has no standing army, thus posing absolutely no significant military threat to Israel. Then the onus would be on Israel to show why they would require additional settlements for their security.

So long as Arafat continues to take the military approach, he provides th primary excuse for Israel to increase it's military presence on the West Bank.

After all, there is no peace treaty between Syria and Israel. And Saddam Hussein has threatened numerous times to invade Israel through Jordan (which could do little to stop him).

Oh well... we all know that it's only a matter of time until such events as you mention will take place. The handwriting is on the wall. With the next major war, probably between Syria, Iraq, and Israel, the Palestinians WILL be expelled into Jordan. And Jordan will probably be an country occupied by Iraq. I personally believe that there will be additional subversion against King Abdullah that will force his abdication, or his being turned into a mere figurehead, in favor of a Palestinian government.
