An article from the S.F Chronicle
In March 2000, S. David Freeman was a democratic candidate for the State Assembly. He received $95,000 in campaign donations from energy companies, executives, unions... Included was a $7,500 donation from Kenneth Lay (Enron), and a $25,000 donation from Roger Sant (AES). A spokesman for the Governor said "That was then, and this is now." Seems reasonable to me (honestly!).
