if money supply didn't increase and hence prices moved forever lower they wouldn't be taking on that debt

Debt is an asset on somebody's books. No debt and we have no bonds to invest our savings only in mattresses. It would be like owning gold. I'd have to pay someone to store my money.

I suppose we could still have equities. We'd be bragging..."Yup I bought CSCO when it was 90 and now it's .0000625!"
