Thomas, I has been reported several times in the papers recently that Bush wants to spend 2 billion on "clean coal research".

During the campaign, I personally watched as Bush said something to the effect "My opponent has been attacking me on targeted tax cuts. He wants to give tax breaks to those who buy hybrid cars. Now that's a targeted tax cut. How many of you own hybrid cars?" It was said with that cocky arrogant smirk that he is so good at. His groupies of course roared with laughter, which is what he was after. Of course now, after realizing that he will be a one term president if he doesn't work on his image, he is in favor of those same tax breaks that he ridiculed Gore for proposing. Of course the "liberal" media did not show the obvious contradiction in statements.

I don't have the original link, as I don't plan on spending the rest of my life rebutting you, but here is a piece from one of your favorites, the Sierra Club, on cutting the funding for renewables and efficiency...

"President Bush has proposed cutting renewable energy research and development programs by 36percent in FY02. This devastating cut would slow the development of key renewable energy technologies and risks our global leadership in this area. It is the wrong choice for our national energy policy.

The Bush Administration has proposed cutting energy efficiency research and development by 27 percent overall, with over 50percent cut in some specific programs in Fiscal Year 2002. "
